The poinsettia sticks because of a process called phototropism, where the plant's stems grow towards the light source. This causes the poinsettia to grow upwards and stick, as it seeks out the sunlight. Additionally, the poinsettia's stems are naturally rigid and sturdy, which also contributes to its ability to stick and stand upright. This natural growth behavior allows the poinsettia to thrive and display its vibrant red leaves during the holiday season. **

Your poinsettia likely has colorful bracts, which are often mistaken for flower petals. These bracts come in a variety of colors, including red, white, pink, and marbled combinations. The actual flowers of the poinsettia are small and yellow, located in the center of the bracts. Additionally, your poinsettia may have dark green leaves with a slightly toothed edge. **

Poinsettias drop their leaves when they are exposed to stress, such as sudden changes in temperature, overwatering, or underwatering. They are also sensitive to drafts and low light conditions. Additionally, poinsettias are sensitive to ethylene gas, which is produced by ripening fruits and can cause the leaves to drop. It is important to provide poinsettias with consistent care and avoid exposing them to stressful conditions in order to prevent leaf drop. **

The poinsettia sheds its leaves as a natural part of its growth cycle. As the days get shorter and nights get longer in the fall, the poinsettia's leaves begin to drop as it prepares to enter a period of dormancy. This process is triggered by a decrease in light and changes in temperature, causing the plant to shed its older leaves and prepare for new growth in the spring. It's a normal part of the plant's life cycle and not necessarily a sign of poor health. **
